Reclaiming the Marketplace for the Kingdom

The myth of the secular marketplace has impoverished our imagination. For too long, we have relegated business to the sidelines of God’s activity. But Scripture knows no such divide.

The God who fills Bezalel to build the Tabernacle also walks among merchants, farmers, and artisans. He calls His people to live as priests—not just in temples, but in every corner of life. When Christians carry the presence of God into the workplace, the marketplace becomes sacred ground.

We must reject the sacred-secular split and instead recover a theology that sees all work—done in faith, hope, and love—as holy. Business, then, is not neutral. It is either discipled by the Kingdom of God or by the kingdom of self.

Where in your work have you believed the lie of “secular space”?

Invite Christ to reclaim it.
